About Beşiktaş Park
Beşiktaş Park — known through its sponsorship history as Vodafone Park and currently as Tüpraş Stadyumu — is the home ground of Beşiktaş J.K., one of the three traditional powerhouses of Turkish football. The stadium opened in 2016 on the footprint of the historic İnönü Stadium, which had stood on the same site since 1947, preserving one of the most storied football locations in Istanbul.
With a capacity of approximately 41,900, Beşiktaş Park is a modern, all-seater stadium designed to UEFA top-tier specifications. The compact bowl produces an intense matchday atmosphere when Beşiktaş play at home, and the venue has hosted high-profile international fixtures including the 2019 UEFA Super Cup between Liverpool and Chelsea.
Beyond Beşiktaş Süper Lig fixtures and European nights, the stadium has been used for major touring concerts, club celebrations, and other large-scale events. Its central location on the European shore of the Bosphorus makes it one of the most logistically convenient stadiums in Istanbul for international visitors.
Location and Setting
Beşiktaş Park sits in the Beşiktaş district on the European shore of the Bosphorus, immediately north of the Dolmabahçe Palace complex. The setting is genuinely central — the stadium is within walking distance of the waterfront, the palace gardens, and the Beşiktaş ferry terminal that connects to the Asian side of the city. From here it's a short distance further north to Ortaköy and the lively cafés and restaurants along the Bosphorus.
This city-centre placement is unusual for a modern football stadium of this scale. Most stadiums of comparable capacity are built on the urban periphery to ease traffic and parking; Beşiktaş Park has instead been integrated into one of Istanbul's most historically significant districts, only a few minutes' walk from major landmarks.
Istanbul's climate is warm in summer with long daylight hours, mild and changeable in spring and autumn, and cool to cold in winter. Evening matches and concerts often run into cooler temperatures after sunset, so a light layer is sensible outside the peak summer months. The stadium is open-roof — most of the seating is covered, but the pitch and any lower-bowl positions are exposed to the sky.
Getting There
Because Beşiktaş Park is in central Istanbul, public transport from anywhere along the Bosphorus or from Taksim is straightforward and usually faster than driving on event days. Most visitors will reach the stadium by tram, funicular, or ferry, often combined with a short walk along the waterfront.
Transport options:
- Tram — the T1 line runs from Bağcılar through Sultanahmet and across the Galata Bridge to Kabataş, the closest tram stop to the stadium. From Kabataş it is a 10–15 minute walk along the Bosphorus to Beşiktaş Park, passing the Dolmabahçe Palace gates
- Funicular — the F1 funicular connects Kabataş with Taksim Square in around 90 seconds, making the stadium easy to reach from the hotels and entertainment of Beyoğlu. From Taksim, the F1 down to Kabataş plus the walk takes around 15–20 minutes total
- Ferry — Istanbul's commuter ferries cross the Bosphorus regularly and are one of the most pleasant ways to reach a match or concert. The Beşiktaş İskelesi ferry terminal is a short walk from the stadium and has direct services from Üsküdar and Kadıköy on the Asian side
- Taxi and rideshare — licensed yellow taxis and apps such as BiTaksi and Uber operate across Istanbul. Traffic on event evenings can be heavy along the Bosphorus road, so allow extra time during the final hour before kickoff or doors
- Airport — Istanbul Airport (IST) is roughly 50–60 minutes from the stadium by taxi outside heavy traffic, with longer journey times during rush hour. Sabiha Gökçen (SAW) on the Asian side is around 1.5 hours away depending on the bridge or tunnel route used
Plan to arrive at least 60–90 minutes before kickoff or doors to allow time for security screening and ticket scanning. After a full-capacity match, expect the immediate area to be congested for 20–30 minutes — the tram and ferry services absorb very large crowds, but patience near closing time is part of the experience.
Venue Facilities
Beşiktaş Park is a modern, purpose-built football stadium with the infrastructure expected of a UEFA top-tier venue. Seating is arranged in continuous tiers around the pitch, producing strong sightlines from the lower, middle, and upper levels. For concerts, the bowl is reconfigured with a stage at one end of the pitch and a floor area in front for standing or premium seating.
Food and beverage concessions operate on the concourses during events, alongside merchandise points for both Beşiktaş J.K. and event-specific items. Card and contactless payments are widely accepted, though carrying a small amount of Turkish lira can be useful at smaller stalls. Restroom facilities are distributed around the concourses to minimise queues during breaks.
Security screening at the entrance follows standard international event protocols. Prohibited items typically include professional cameras, large bags, outside food and beverages, and any objects that could be used as projectiles. Check the specific event page for detailed restrictions before travelling to the venue.
Full match timings, kickoff or doors times, and any venue-specific notes are confirmed closer to each date — browse upcoming events for the latest information on Beşiktaş Park fixtures and concerts.
Visiting Istanbul
Attending a match or concert at Beşiktaş Park is a natural reason to spend additional time in Istanbul — a city that straddles two continents and offers one of the richest cultural experiences in the region. The stadium's central location means most major sights are within a short walk, tram ride, or ferry crossing, making it easy to combine a fixture with a few days of sightseeing.
The Dolmabahçe Palace, immediately south of the stadium, is one of Istanbul's most ornate Ottoman-era buildings and a natural starting point for a matchday morning. From there it is a short walk along the Bosphorus to Beşiktaş itself, with cafés, fish restaurants, and the bustling Beşiktaş Çarşısı market. North along the shore, Ortaköy offers the famous mosque and the bridge across to the Asian side.
Further afield, the historic peninsula around Sultanahmet is reachable in 15–20 minutes by tram and contains Hagia Sophia, the Blue Mosque, Topkapı Palace, and the Grand Bazaar. A Bosphorus ferry to Kadıköy on the Asian side gives a different perspective on the city and access to one of Istanbul's most enjoyable food districts.
